The association’s Annual Meeting and elections for the Board of Directors and Columbia Council Representative will take place on April 24, 2021. We are currently seeking residents to serve on the Election Committee. This short-term commitment begins this month and ends following the acceptance of the election results. The committee is responsible for establishing the rules and regulations necessary to conduct an orderly election, organizing a Candidates’ Forum when there is a contested election, and helping on election day. In 2021, due to the pandemic, use of absentee ballots will be emphasized and the committee will be instrumental in overseeing related changes in the voting process. Members of the association eligible to vote in the next election are eligible to serve on the committee. However, Election Committee members may not be a candidate for office or actively campaign for or against any candidate.
Now is also the time for River Hill residents to consider giving back to the community. We need candidates to run for positions on the River Hill Board of Directors (RHBOD) and to represent the village on the Columbia Council. This year, there will be 3 open positions on the Board of Directors. Each term is for two years, May 1, 2021 – April 30, 2023. The RHBOD meets one Monday per month, except in March and April when there are two meetings. To find out more about the responsibilities of serving on the RHBOD and to determine if serving is a good fit for you, residents are invited to attend an upcoming meeting, speak with current board members, and to contact the Village Manager. We also encourage you to explore our website www.villageofriverhill.org to learn more about the association’s operations and responsibilities. The village’s Columbia Council Representative is an ex officio member of the RHBOD and serves as a member of the Columbia Association’s (CA) Board of Directors. If dealing with issues affecting Columbia are of interest and you value the programs, services, and amenities offered by CA, then serving on the CA Board is worth considering. This position also has a 2-year term. All CA Board meetings and work sessions are currently being held virtually. To find out more, visit www.columbiaassociation.org.
When finalized, candidate information packets will be available online and by request at Claret Hall. Residents planning to run for election must complete a nomination petition containing a minimum of ten, verifiable signatures from River Hill residents ages 18+. Candidate nomination petitions will be available beginning March 1. All petitions must be submitted to the Election Committee by March 21.
To volunteer to serve on the Election Committee, contact the Village Manager at email@example.com or 410-531-1749.
