Troop 618 Recognizes Achievements, Honors New Eagle Scout

Scouting America Troop 618 held its winter Court of Honor on Dec. 9, 2025, recognizing Scouts for rank advancements and the completion of merit badges. Eight Scouts advanced in rank during the ceremony. Ethan Lou earned the Scout rank; Emmet Jones, Everett Hoover and Jahan Kalirai earned the Tenderfoot rank; Alex Bruner and Nicholas Cao earned the First Class rank; and Ethan Choi earned the Life rank.

In addition to rank advancements, eight Scouts completed a total of 15 merit badges, reflecting their commitment to skill development, leadership and service.

Musab Mohammed was recognized during the ceremony for completing his Eagle Scout project. The Atholton High School senior built and installed permanent benches at the Dar-Al-Taqwa Mosque in Columbia to create additional seating for families during outdoor events.

An Eagle Scout project is the final requirement to earn the highest rank in Scouting America and requires a Scout to plan, lead and carry out a service project that benefits a community organization.

“There were very few benches and only one or two tables for these families to sit on which can hinder the enjoyment of these events as many are forced to sit on stairs,” said Musab Mohammed. “This is why I built six benches for my mosque ensuring that people get to enjoy their experience.”

The project addressed a need for gathering spaces and improved accessibility and comfort for community members attending events at the mosque.
