River Hill Homes Sought for Columbia Home Tour
The Columbia Home Tour is seeking distinct Columbia homes to showcase at the third nnual event on Sunday, June 3, 2012 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. In 2012, River Hill will be a featured village. The planning committee is actively seeking homes in River Hill for consideration. Participating homeowners will be asked to open their homes to allow ticket holders to embark on a self-guided tour. Assigned docents are at each home to facilitate the guests. If you think your home, or the home of a neighbor, is a good candidate for inclusion, please contact Susan Smith, the River Hill Village Manager, at 410-531-1749 or manager@villageofriverhill.org.
Traditionally, the tour includes various housing types (single family, townhouse, condominium) and styles (traditional, contemporary, custom, tract, etc.). Other considerations include special collections or features that would makethe home interesting to the community. Yards and gardens as well as unique additions or renovations are also elements that will be considered. Ease of directions and parking near the home are also important selection factors. Homes will be selected by a committee which will visit each property, consider its unique features and how it fits into the selection criteria. While a home may meet many of the criteria, the need to provide locations from various villages and a variety of styles may preclude some otherwise excellent properties from being chosen for the 2012 tour.
In 2011, $3,500 in proceeds from the event were donated to the One Month’s Rent Initiative, a local charity that assists people normally employed full time who are in danger of losing their housing due to a temporary crisis. Although the receiving charity for the 2012 tour has not yet been selected, the participating homeowners can be confident that the proceeds will be donated to a local, non-profit organization that benefits residents of Columbia. Help showcase our wonderful community by volunteering your home to be a part of the 2012 Columbia Home Tour!
