Contest Rules and Regulations

Eligibility

  1. Open to Residents of Howard County, Maryland: The contest is open to legal residents of Howard County, Maryland who are 18 years of age or older.
  2. Ownership of Pet: Participants must submit photos of pets they own or have permission to photograph and share.
  3. One Entry Per Pet: Each contestant may submit only one photo per pet, but they may enter photos of multiple pets if they own more than one.

Entry Rules

  1. No Entry Fee: The contest is free to enter.
  2. Submission Format: All photos must be submitted digitally in PDF, PNG, JPG, JPEG, or GIF format, with a file size no larger than 16 MB. Submissions should be emailed to newsletter@villageofriverhill.org or uploaded via the contest website.
  3. No Professional Photos: All photos must be taken by the contestant or their immediate family. Professional photos are not permitted.
  4. Deadline: Contest entries must be received by midnight October 16, 2024. Late entries will not be considered.
  5. Content Restrictions: Submissions must be appropriate for all audiences. Photos containing any form of cruelty, abuse, or illegal behavior (e.g., illegal pet ownership, endangered species, etc.) will be disqualified and, if necessary, reported.

Prizes

  1. Prize Details: The winner with the most votes in each category will receive a $50 Chewy gift card.
  2. Non-Transferable: Prizes are non-transferable and must be accepted as awarded.
  3. Winner Notification: Winners will be notified by email within 5 days after the contest deadline. Winners will have 14 days to claim their prize, or an alternate winner will be chosen.

Intellectual Property & Photo Rights

  1. Ownership: Participants retain the copyright of their photos. By entering the contest, participants grant River Hill Community Association a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and reproduce the submitted photos for promotional purposes, both online and in print.
  2. Photo Release for Human Subjects: By submitting a photo to the contest, participants confirm that they have obtained permission from any individuals (or their legal guardians, in the case of minors) appearing in the photo, granting River Hill Community Association the right to use, display, and reproduce the image for promotional purposes. Submission of the photo serves as a release and waiver for any claims related to the use of the image by River Hill Community Association.

Privacy & Data Collection

  1. Personal Information: Contestants’ personal information (e.g., names, addresses, emails) will be used solely for the purposes of the contest and will not be shared with third parties without explicit consent.

Disqualification

  1. Non-compliance: Failure to adhere to the rules or submission of inappropriate content may result in disqualification.
  2. Fraudulent Activity: Any attempt to manipulate votes or falsify submissions will result in automatic disqualification and potential banning from future contests.

General Conditions

  1. Void Where Prohibited: The contest is void where prohibited by law, and all participants must adhere to the legal restrictions of their jurisdiction.
  2. Changes or Cancellations: The organizer reserves the right to modify or cancel the contest at any time due to unforeseen circumstances.
  3. Limitation of Liability: By entering the contest, participants agree to release and hold harmless River Hill Community Association, its affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from any and all liability, claims, or actions of any kind arising out of or in connection with the contest or the acceptance, possession, or use of any prize.
  4. Internet and Technology Disclaimer: The sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, incomplete, or undelivered entries due to technical failures, including but not limited to network failures, hardware or software malfunctions, or any other issues outside the sponsor’s control.
  5. Right to Cancel or Modify: The sponsor reserves the right to cancel, modify, or suspend the contest at any time if factors beyond the sponsor’s control impair the integrity or fairness of the contest, as determined by the sponsor in its sole discretion.
