Meet the New Board Member: Janet Munro

As a River Hill resident for the past eight years, I appreciate the opportunity to serve on the Village of River Hill’s Board of Directors. I feel our Board serves a valuable purpose in supporting the interests of our community, and I will advocate for our residents while also volunteering with various board committees.

I grew up in Arlington, Virginia, received a B.S. in Business, and moved to Annapolis where I met my husband, Jim. While employed with Northrop Grumman in Annapolis and Linthicum, I earned a master’s degree in Management of Information Systems, and more recently, a Paralegal Certificate from Boston University. Jim and I have twin daughters, and we moved to Pheasant Ridge in 2013. We later bought our current home in Pointers Run in order to reside in-district for Atholton’s stellar JROTC program. Our daughters are now in their first years of college.

As a parent and community member, I have volunteered for various organizations and advocacy groups, including the Howard County-School Health Council, JROTC, PTSA, Humane Society, and the River Hill Traffic & Safety Committee. I look forward to contributing to our community and supporting our Board and village staff in finding solutions for the challenges facing our growing, changing and aging village. I encourage our residents to stay tuned to proposed changes in the county and Columbia Association, participate in River Hill elections each spring, and provide our village staff with your concerns and suggestions.
