Local Scouts Provide Hurricane Relief

On the weekend of September 14, local cub scouts from Pack 702, in the Pointers Run neighborhood, were forced to cancel their planned camping trip due to the threat of Hurricane Florence. Instead of going camping at Patapsco State Park, they spent their time raising money and assembling 100 care kits to provide relief for hurricane victims. Donations for these kits were collected at the River Hill Giant. “It is a great group of kids and wonderful to see the support from our community,” said Pack 702 Cubmaster, Chad Hawthorne. The care kits, also known as “hygiene kits” included a comb, soap, towel, washcloth, toothbrush, and nail clippers. The kits will be delivered via mail to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) for distribution to those affected by the hurricane.

Pack 702 is mainly comprised of students who attend Pointers Run Elementary School, although there are some other schools represented in the pack. Clarksville Elementary School students are part of Pack 737 which is also very active in the area.
