How to Recycle Your Holiday Tree
The Merry Mulch program is sponsored by Howard County Bureau of Environmental Services. When you participate in the Merry Mulch program, thousands of trees are kept out of the landfill. Merry mulching your tree will help to conserve landfill space. Christmas trees are taken to the compost facility and are recycled into compost and mulch. Curb side recycling of trees will continue through January 18, 2013 for county residents on yard trim recycle days as early as 6 a.m. or as late as 7 p.m. To ensure pickup, remove all tinsel, garland, ornaments, lights, tree stands, plastic bags, etc.; cut tree into 4 foot lengths and tie bundles less than 40 pounds.
