Erickson Living Plans Still Under Consideration

Erickson Living, LLC’s proposal to obtain a zoning change to permit construction of a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Clarksville, which includes the relocation/expansion of the existing Freestate Gasoline Service Station, is continuing to be heard by the Howard County Zoning Board. The hearing for Case ZB-118M will continue June 9, 2021 at 6 p.m. The hearing will be held virtually and live-streamed via WebEx. Because the re-zoning process is continuing, Erickson Living has requested a two-year extension to the General Plan Amendment originally adopted in Council Bill 59-2018 (CB 59-2018). CB 59-2018 changed the planned service area boundary for public water and sewer to include the site of the CCRC, the property’s Growth Tier designation, and the property’s Designated Place Type from Rural Conservation to Growth and Revitalization. These changes are needed for the project to proceed. On April 15, 2021, the Howard County Planning Board reviewed General Plan Amendment 2021-01 (GPA 2021-01). Based on the information presented and discussion, the Planning Board voted (5-0-0) to recommend that the County Council adopt GPA-2021-01 which adds a two-year time extension to the General Plan Amendment adopted in CB 59-2018.
