Association Seeks Teen Representatives

One of the River Hill Community Association’s goals is to provide services and engage residents of all ages – including our teen population. We have a history of teen involvement which has grown even stronger with the establishment of the Student Member Committee of the Board and the Teen Advisory Committee (TAC). Both committees provide opportunities for teens to learn more about our community, interact with a variety of residents, develop leadership skills, and build on individual interests and strengths while having fun. Applications are now available for youth interested in serving for the September 1, 2013 – August 31, 2014 term.

Kaede Johnson and Tiffany Kan are currently serving on the Student Member Committee. This committee has a maximum of two members who serve as liaisons to the Board of Directors, attend the Board meetings, and serve on and chair the TAC. They also provide a link between their schools and the community. Applicants for this committee must be rising juniors or seniors.

The TAC consists of a maximum of six high school members and is responsible for promoting teen involvement in the community. Current TAC  members are Pradyun Dixit, Tina Chen, Atman Panigrahi, and Deep Singh. These youth planned and ran the activities at the Association’s annual Halloween event and involved additional teen volunteers who ensured a successful haunted house and evening of crafts and games. Members of
the committee coordinated with representatives from the Police Department, local educators, and staff to develop the March anti-bullying event, Raising Compassionate Kids, which focused on elementary school aged children and their parents. These dedicated youth will be running activities
at the June Health Fair and are busy organizing a fun event for residents of all ages.

The Village Board will appoint the members of both committees following an application and interview process. Applications are available here or at Claret Hall. The deadline for applications is May 31. For more information, contact Susan M. Smith at  410-531-1749 or manager@villageofriverhill.org.
